Swatchy Shemey: Sunrise

Image
Before I started working on this assignment, I honestly thought it was going to be really stressful and that I would be lost. However, creating the color scheme really was not as challenging as I thought it would be. This assignment was actually really satisfying and enjoyable unlike a lot of other assignments from my  other courses.  I took this picture of a beautiful sunrise in 2016 when I was in Orlando, Florida. This photo happened to pop up in my memories the same day we began to talk about this assignment, therefore it became my inspiration for my color scheme. I was really excited to create a color scheme based on this picture because the sky looks so gorgeous and I love how it even looks like it is on fire. This is the part that I thought was satisfying. The only difficulty I was having was that the yellow was so soft that I had to play with the adjustments before I was able to find yellows that actually displayed a level of differentiation. I loved how simple it was t...

Me(me) is Not Impressed: Just Eat Them

Image
I was really excited to do this assignment. Although I spend much of my time scrolling through hilarious memes on social media, I have never actually attempted to create a meme. Just in case no one watches professional soccer, below is a picture showing Luis Suárez (t-rex) a player on Uruguay's national team, and Atlético Madrid, a Spanish Club. The other player is Giorgio Chiellini from Italy's National Team. Suárez has a bad habit of munching on the opposition for no apparent reason. In this particular incident, Suárez even managed to leave teeth marks on Chiellini's shoulder. Sadly there have been two more incidents where he has bitten another player and received suspensions for several months.  Suárez has been given the nickname "cannibal" following these events. When asked why he bites his opposition in an interview, he answered "biting appalls people, but it's relatively harmless"(Tomarchio).      When I started this assignment, I did no...

Instagrammish

I was very excited for this assignment because I love to use filters on my own pictures before I post them. As we are transitioning into my favorite season, I wanted to create a filter with an orange tint to make my pictures look fall-like. The photos that I chose for this assignment are pictures that I have taken of nature, however I also chose a photo with myself in it as I wanted to see how the filter would look on a person. First, I added a curves adjustment layer. After adjusting the curve, the new coordinates for the maximums or minimums of the curve were (193, 224) for red, (202, 225) for green, and (120, 63) for blue. Second, I added a brightness/contrast layer and raised the contrast to 75. Third, I added a new layer and lowered the hue to negative 9. Then, I added a vibrance layer and decreased the vibrance to negative 35. Finally, as one of the videos from "Work[ing] with Layers" explains, I turned the layers on and off to determine if I liked how the new layers lo...

Walking Around McEwen

Image
Walking around McEwen Opener: I have been on campus for a number of weeks now, and I have not taken the time to observe some of the details that can be found in and around my dorm. I did not realize the different lines, patterns, and symmetries that can be found in ordinary objects, or how these elements can enhance an item's appearance. Leading Lines: For this picture, I placed my camera at the top of the stair railing. I thought that the window looked unique and I wanted the railing pointed towards the window. Due to the position of the railing in the immediate foreground and middle ground of this photo, the eye is instantly pulled towards the window. Additionally, another factor that pulls the viewer to the subject is light. Our eyes are naturally attracted to bright spots instead of dark spots, so at first glance, you see the window. Viewpoints: This is a photo of the lights hanging over the entrance of my dorm. Everyday I pass these lights and I never thought to look at them...
