Me(me) is Not Impressed: Just Eat Them

I was really excited to do this assignment. Although I spend much of my time scrolling through hilarious memes on social media, I have never actually attempted to create a meme. Just in case no one watches professional soccer, below is a picture showing Luis Suárez (t-rex) a player on Uruguay's national team, and Atlético Madrid, a Spanish Club. The other player is Giorgio Chiellini from Italy's National Team. Suárez has a bad habit of munching on the opposition for no apparent reason. In this particular incident, Suárez even managed to leave teeth marks on Chiellini's shoulder. Sadly there have been two more incidents where he has bitten another player and received suspensions for several months.  Suárez has been given the nickname "cannibal" following these events. When asked why he bites his opposition in an interview, he answered "biting appalls people, but it's relatively harmless"(Tomarchio).

When I started this assignment, I did not think it was going to be too complicated. I found the video about organizing layers was extremely helpful as I ended with fourteen different layers. I also kept forgetting to create new layers and editing the background so I had to hit the undo button several times. First, I found the background picture from Jurassic World. Then I created new layers for each new object and used the lasso tool to add Suàrez, Chiellini, the Nike check (from my sweatpants), and soccerball into the scene. One of the biggest challenges was finding the patience to define all the edges of each object. Additionally, when I added Suárez's head on the dinosaur, the bottom jaw of the t-rex was protruding out of his mouth. I used the lasso too to delete the part that stuck out from the background then used the lasso tool to copy and paste the leaves over the empty spot to make it look more natural. Next, I used the healing brush to make the space between the head and the tree more realistic. Similarly, another problem was that there were three people behind the soccer ball that were just irrelevant to the meme. So I covered them with the ball and a leg was still sticking out. I decided to use the lasso tool to erase the leg and then copy and paste surrounding areas that helped disguise where the leg had been.

This was a very fun assignment overall. It definitely helped me get more familiar with the features in photoshop and I even gave my parents a good laugh.
