Swatchy Shemey: Sunrise
Before I started working on this assignment, I honestly thought it was going to be really stressful and that I would be lost. However, creating the color scheme really was not as challenging as I thought it would be. This assignment was actually really satisfying and enjoyable unlike a lot of other assignments from my other courses.
I took this picture of a beautiful sunrise in 2016 when I was in Orlando, Florida. This photo happened to pop up in my memories the same day we began to talk about this assignment, therefore it became my inspiration for my color scheme. I was really excited to create a color scheme based on this picture because the sky looks so gorgeous and I love how it even looks like it is on fire.
This is the part that I thought was satisfying. The only difficulty I was having was that the yellow was so soft that I had to play with the adjustments before I was able to find yellows that actually displayed a level of differentiation. I loved how simple it was to duplicate the squares and create all of the tints. This feature is very convenient and I can definitely see myself creating many color schemes in the future.
I usually like monochrome designs but I would not have been able to do the yellow on yellow. There is no. way that anyone would be able to read the words, even in the darkest tint, because the color is just too light. I am pretty satisfied with my nameplates but I do not think they look that professional. I would say for something like a linked-in profile, these colors are too playful and I would not use them for that purpose.
I had a lot of fun doing this assignment. It was actually really enjoyable considering that I am drowning in papers for my other courses. I also learned a lot and am now more familiar with InDesign.
